Common Questions
Babyproofing and Childproofing FAQs
Why hire a professional babyproofer or childproofer?
Safety products are only effective when they’re selected and installed correctly. Professional childproofing helps families avoid the guesswork, product research, and installation challenges that often come with securing a home on their own.
Acre combines professional assessment, proven safety solutions, and expert installation to help families create safer environments with confidence. The products we install meet recognized safety standards.
What areas do you childproof?
Acre installations are designed to protect the spaces children interact with every day, from main living areas to more specialized environments. Depending on your home’s layout, solutions may be installed in:
- Living rooms and family rooms
- Kitchens and dining areas
- Bedrooms and nurseries
- Bathrooms and laundry rooms
- Stairways and hallways
- Home offices and playrooms
- Garages and utility spaces
- Outdoor living areas, decks, and patios
Timing – when should I babyproof or childproof my home?
It’s never too late to make your home safer for a growing child. However, many families prefer to schedule their assessment and installation before their child becomes mobile, allowing time to address potential safety concerns before crawling, climbing, and exploring begin.
During your assessment, Acre can help identify priorities based on your child’s developmental stage and your home’s layout.
Do you install customer-purchased products?
In most cases, no. To ensure quality, compatibility, and proper installation, Acre installs products carefully selected for quality, durability, and performance. By supplying the products we install, we can ensure they are appropriate for the application and meet the standards we expect for our clients’ homes.
If you have questions about a specific product, we are happy to discuss it during your assessment.
How long does a childproofing installation take?
Depending on the size of the home, the spaces being protected, and the level of childproofing required, an installation can take anywhere from a few hours to multiple visits to the location. Most installations will be completed in several hours.
Do you offer in-home childproofing assessments?
Yes. Every project begins with a Home Safety Assessment. During this visit, a technician evaluates your home’s layout, discusses your family’s needs, identifies potential safety concerns, and recommends the package and solutions best suited to your space.
The assessment provides a clear installation plan and helps ensure any recommended work aligns with both your home’s needs and your family’s priorities.
Are babyproofing or childproofing products included?
Yes. All products included within your selected package, along with professional installation, are included in the package price.
If your home’s layout requires additional products, upgrades, or specialized solutions beyond the package scope, those recommendations will be discussed during the assessment process and priced separately. Acre’s package-based approach helps keep pricing clear and predictable while still allowing solutions to reflect your home’s specific needs.
What happens if my home needs more childproofing than the package includes?
Some homes require additional gates, anchors, closures, specialty hardware, or custom safety solutions beyond the selected package. If additional products or installation work are recommended during the assessment process, Acre will discuss those options and any associated costs before work begins.
Our goal is to provide clear recommendations and transparent pricing, without the uncertainty of a fully custom quoting process.
Can I customize a package?
Acre’s packages are designed to provide a clear starting point for most homes. The package is selected first. If additional solutions are needed based on your home’s layout and safety priorities, we will identify those areas during the assessment and recommend add-ons.
For larger homes, complex layouts, or projects requiring a more customized approach, Acre also offers Signature projects tailored to the home’s specific needs.
Do you reduce the price if I do not use every included item?
Acre’s packages are structured around a defined scope of products, labor, and installation services. During the assessment process, we recommend the package that best aligns with your home’s needs, helping ensure you receive the right level of coverage from the start.
If additional products or solutions are needed, they can be added to the selected package as appropriate.
